The aim of designing education at Sozosha is the design relating with human and life. "Design" is created concerning environment and business. The important thing of that is "human" and "life". With progressing technology, design is demanded humanity like "gentle" and "warmth" concerning about natural environment. The design with humanity which is created by rich techniques and sense has the different value from the arts. The aim of us is to pursue this value and to design with feeling sympathy concerning mainly human and life in coming age. The level of design is be decided by total balance of the capacity such as ambition, sense, originality, knowledge, technique of designers'. Sozosha puts the weight 4 elements in the curriculum which are "field work", "solution", "presentation" and "assessment". Those are individually connected with the process of creating and total of those is the design phase. Students obtain the various of abilities such as "knowledge and recognition", "research and analysis", "plan and concept", "ability for using materials", "composition and expression", "proposal and persuasion". Students repeat those 4 processes (field work, solution, presentation and assessment) and are in progress of the total skill for designing.

Graphic Arts
Graphic design refers to the design of advertising and publishing. Students will not only learn the techniques of graphic design in this digital era, but also acquire the skills for professional graphic design with superior business sense.

Illustration
The illustrators whom Sozosha seeks for are different from those who pursue the arts like painters. The goal is to develope their originality and put it into the field of advertisement and products, not to keep in the world of the work. This course aims at training for illustrators who has planning ability and imagination which can apply in the business field.

Web
This major trains the designers who can active soon in Web and CG in the center of digital contents. Students will master the knowledge and skills generally. They are necessary for students to need for website’s production from basic programming to up-to-date CG skills.

Display
Students will learn display as a visual communication media which can be three-dimensional or spatial advertisement. Through this course, as a creator who design the space, students will acquire the ability to appeal and convey the intended messages through the display.

Interior
Designing which students can learn at Sozosha plays a role as a so-called interface, the connection between people and buildings. We bring up a talent who can 'produce place', can make proposals such as what kind of life-style would suit in those housing or what kind of business expansion would be in that commercial space.

Sozosha College of Design is in Osaka, the second largest city in Japan. It is a traditional city famous for commerce, so there are many chances to study practical design. We can see many advertisements, show windows, new style buildings and so on. The important thing for us living in the city is not only create the new but to think about the environment and tradition; so designers will have to create their works with these things in mind.

A special feature of this school is to try yourself through actual experiences and practice. Through the creation by your hands, your five senses (which are emotion, sense of color, sound and smell, inspiration, reflexes and dynamic sight) will be brought up. We call this kind of study "Global Arts". The recovery and riches of humanity are given by not only craft with humanity. We think that to establish the relation between human, society and environment, which is the base demanded, will bring up your mind, From this point of view, we set the course for craft of Hida summer school into the course for summer work shop and students who major in living design can admit to this school as a post graduate course. We carry the education system concerning the both good points of design and craft.
The aim of the curriculum is that students understand the relation between materials, processing and life through practice and lectures. The curriculum consists of designing, drafting, making models, coating and how to use machine and tools for the purpose of managing both creation and craftsmanship. The goal is to have skills of designing, selecting materials and completion works by yourself.

Craft Furniture
Students acquire the skill of planning, designing and making full-sized models using pure wood , as well as learn the knowledge of traditional furniture of craft.

Product Furniture
Students will study not only furniture design in houses or shops but also design of lighting products, environmental furniture in the open air with mixed materials using mainly wood.

Furnishings
Students will learn interior planning and coordination through planning and designing of furnishing such as floor, wall, ceiling design of houses or shops.

Lifelong Study
In this course, students who consist of different age groups, between 20s and 60s, have individually own purpose which are self realization, working skills of high order, wish of fulfilling life and so on. Students can enter this course which consists of 2 courses in spring, autumn, winter and period is for 10 days, 3 months, 6 months and 1 year.

Ceramics
Students will practice how to use the potters wheel and understand the manufacturing process through experience shaping and firing by themselves.

Wood Craft
Students will study the knowledge of wood materials and implements and also the way of using them through practice.

Hida International School is located in Takayama-city in Gifu prefecture where takes 3 hours from Osaka by train. This region, called Hida, has built up the culture of original wood craft. We can see the traditional culture such as house with a steep rafter roof, called Gassho Zukuri, traditional architecture, called Machiya, and lacquered ceramics.
